Socially Responsible Investing
By engaging in socially responsible investment practices, Unitarian Universalists and UU Congregations
can help build sustainable and resilient communities
in our climate-changing world.
It has been said that every checkbook register or budget reveals a theological statement; we would also say the same of every investment statement. Investment decisions do have economic, social, and environmental effects, whether positive or negative. The purpose of this module is to inspire and educate UUs to become active participants in the growing movement of Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) and the opportunities it offers to help make our world a better place.
Each of the following topical sections include background information, links to online resources to help you learn about the issues, and ideas for taking action in your church or community. The reading list contains books that will give you more detailed information on all aspects of SRI. As UUMFE receives congregational stories around this topic, we will share them on the Congregational Divest/Reinvest page.
